Cha-ching!

The first and second days of school were very successful - albeit a little crazy and overwhelming! Sunday night I didn't sleep very well - partially due to nerves, but mostly due to my roommate coming home from a concert at midnight and deciding it was a perfect time to cook dinner! ;) But despite that, I made it up and out the door quite early. I 'self-timered' a picture because I HAD to have a picture of my very first day of school as an SLP... and clearly my roommate wasn't up yet! Not the best picture, but we deal... pictures by yourself are awkward, nevermind self-timered pictures by yourself.

So... our kids are ADORABLE... for the most part! ;) There were a definitely a few whose names I learned very quickly... :) The day flew by... since the kids are only there for 2 hours and 45 minutes at a time! The afternoon class felt slower than the morning, but that's to be expected.

Today I had parent meetings for the Phonology classes I will be leading on Tuesday/Thursday. I was super nervous about the meetings, but apparently they went pretty well! I received this email from my principal after the first meeting: "I got great feedback that you did a great job explaining the phonological processes to the parents today. Keep up the great work!" And after the second meeting I was walking down the hall with my CFY supervisor and the Lead SLP for the school, whose classroom I was using for the meetings, came up to my supervisor and said, "I was blown away by Kristen this afternoon in the meeting. She totally impressed me - you should be extremely proud of her!" So I guess that's about the best feedback I could have asked for - from 2 very important people in the school, no less! :) Definitely a confidence boost at a time when I'm needing it most! (Have I mentioned that the first week of work in a public school is crazy and overwhelming?!)

And what better present for the first week of school than my first big girl PAYCHECK!!

My bank account is very happy today!! :)

I definitely think I'm working in the right place! Always good, right? ;)
